Young athlete Eymen Yılmaz from Sultangazi achieved a major international success by finishing third at the 10th World Junior Wushu Championships held in China. Competing in the 56 kg category, he overcame tough opponents to secure a bronze medal, proudly representing Turkey on the global stage.

Sultangazi, which has been awarded the title of European Sports City by the European Parliament, continues to add to its sporting achievements. Representing the Sultangazi Municipality Sports Club, Yılmaz’s performance brought pride to his hometown and country, as he competed against some of the best young fighters in the world.

Following the competition, Sultangazi Mayor Abdurrahman Dursun congratulated the young athlete during a video call. 

“Finishing third at the World Championship is truly difficult and very rewarding. First of all, we congratulate you for representing our crescent and star flag in the best way and we are proud of you,” he said.

The mayor also expressed confidence in the athlete’s future, adding, “We wholeheartedly believe that you will become a world champion in the next championship, and we wish you continued success. Our athletes truly live up to the title of European Sports City.”

With this achievement, Eymen Yılmaz has set his sights on an even bigger goal—winning a world championship title in future competitions.
