Sofia Rushuang Liu at Just 13 is Already the Queen of Taijiquan: Joy for International Competition Call-Up
In the heart of the Weisong school, a true temple of Wushu in Pordenone, a talent has blossomed on which the entire world of Wushu and Kung Fu has turned its spotlight. Sofia Rushuang Liu, just 13 years old, from Roveredo in Piano, has officially donned the Italian national team jersey—the Italian Wushu and Kung Fu Federation selected her to represent Italy in international competitions in the Taijiquan discipline.
This achievement carries the sweet scent of local pride, but takes on the contours of a historic feat when looking at the numbers: of eight athletes called up throughout Italy for the national team, five come from the Weisong stable in Pordenone. An absolute record that transforms the territory into the Italian "capital" of Chinese martial arts.
Behind Sofia's success lies not only innate talent, but exceptional guidance. Her master is Liu Yuwei, a coach for the Italian national team and, in this case, also her proud father. Under Liu Yuwei's direction, Weisong has become a center of excellence capable of forging world-class athletes, demonstrating that technical quality can reach the highest peaks even far from major metropolitan areas.
"The call-up of Sofia and her teammates is not an isolated case, but the fruit of a particular environment," affirms Paolo Nadal, mayor, without masking his satisfaction. "Roveredo confirms itself as a true garden of talents, a place where young people can grow with the healthy values of sport and find masters capable of cultivating their ambitions. The presence of such a young and determined girl is an example for the entire community: Sofia embodies living proof that, with work and passion, dreams have no geographical boundaries."
The convocation represents a milestone not only for Sofia personally but for the entire Pordenone region, showcasing how dedicated coaching, family support, and community investment in youth sports can produce world-class athletes capable of competing at the highest international levels.
