Filis Gym Sweeps International 'Acropolis Wushu Open': Golden Peaks for Fountoulakis and Syrakoula
Filis Gym achieved significant successes in Sanda Boxing at the international "Acropolis – International Wushu Open Tournament," held from March 13-15 at the Olympic Wrestling Stadium, confirming the high level of preparation and work being done at the club. The gym's athletes returned with important distinctions, as Michalis Fountoulakis, Anna Syrakoula, Nikos Chondrokoukis, and Alexandros Kola conquered first place, Alexandros Vardaris took second place, and Anagiотis Efraimidis stepped onto the podium with third place.
The presence of Michalis Fountoulakis and Anna Syrakoula was exceptional—two athletes who delivered some of the best fights of the entire tournament while also bearing the greatest competitive burden. Fountoulakis competed in three tough matches against athletes from Serbia and Spain, showing excellent competitive maturity, strength, and determination, culminating in an impressive knockout victory that highlighted the dominant way he reached the top.
Equally impressive was the journey of Anna Syrakoula, who gave four fights against athletes from Italy, Mexico, Azerbaijan, and Greece, achieving a great conquest of first place against the highest level of competition. The Filis Gym athlete not only withstood the difficult pace of consecutive matches but also stood out for her effectiveness, achieving two knockout victories—an element that underscores her competitive quality and excellent condition.
These successes gain even greater value when one considers the level of the organization and its international character, with participation from many countries and a high degree of difficulty in each category. Filis Gym proved once again that it has athletes with talent, discipline, and fighting spirit capable of standing out on major international stages.
The performances of Michalis Fountoulakis and Anna Syrakoula were reference points for the tournament, with their victories justly characterized as enormous, both because of the quality of opponents and the number of fights they had to give to reach the top.
