Copa Open de Artes Marciais Chinesas to Bring 800 Athletes to São Paulo
The Copa Open de Artes Marciais Chinesas – Kung Fu will take place on February 1st at Ginásio Mané Garrincha in São Paulo's Ibirapuera complex. Organized by the Brazilian Confederation of Chinese Martial Arts (CBAMC), the free-entry event is expected to gather approximately 800 athletes starting at 10 AM.
The competition covers all Chinese martial arts disciplines including traditional Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, Shuai Chiao, Wushu, and Sanda. Categories are divided by modality, gender, skill level, and age group, with combat divisions also separated by weight class. The event welcomes everyone from beginners to elite competitors, with participants ranging from five years old to senior categories.
"The Copa Open was designed to serve the whole family and give opportunities to both beginners and experienced athletes. It's an event that helps discover new talents and brings Kung Fu to regions that often don't host competitions of this scale," said CBAMC President Edilson Moraes.
The Copa Open counts toward national rankings and Brazilian Championship qualification, and is open to athletes from all states. An online modality will also allow competitors who cannot travel to São Paulo to participate. The venue will feature at least ten competition areas.
The event runs from 10 AM to approximately 4 PM, opening with a traditional Lion Dance performance. All categories will be streamed live on the KungFuLiga Oficial YouTube channel.
