The Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) men's wushu team claimed the Turkish Universities Wushu Championship title at the competition held in Sakarya on January 21-22, 2026. The team's impressive medal haul across multiple weight categories secured them the overall championship trophy.

In the Sanda division, ÇOMÜ athletes dominated the podium. Sefa Emre Okçu (56kg) and Yiğit Taşkın (75kg) captured gold medals, while Kadir Üçüncü (65kg) and Ayşe Can (60kg) earned silver. Celal Emircan Bayburtlu added a bronze medal in the 70kg category.

The championship victory further solidified ÇOMÜ's reputation as a powerhouse in university-level wushu. Team members Tarık Ahmet Çelebi, Emirhan Aktürk, Oğuzhan Savlık, Nur Efşan, and Muhammed Ali also contributed to the team spirit despite competing with injuries.

Boxing coach Semih Öztürk expressed pride in his athletes' disciplined and determined performances, thanking ÇOMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu for his continued support of sports programs. Öztürk emphasized the team's commitment to establishing ÇOMÜ as a leading brand in combat sports.
