Buryatia Wushu Athletes Conquer Russian Championship
On the first day of spring, the Russian Wushu Championship (taolu and Wing Chun) concluded at the Moscow Wushu Palace. A total of 650 athletes from 34 regions of the country, including Buryatia, competed for the title of best. The results of the national team were summarized by the Wushu Federation of the Republic.
Winners and medalists of the championship included several standout performances across age categories. Among girls aged 7-8, Tatyana Fomitskaya took third place in jianshu (sword). Among boys aged 9-11, Semyon Markovets won first place in Wing Chun and second place in qianshu (spear), while Lev Bezotechestvo secured third place in taiji jian (sword).
Among youth aged 12-14, Daniil Ponomarev dominated with first place in both Wing Chun and gunshu (staff), plus second place in Wing Chun. Arsalan Losolov took third place in Wing Chun, and Surena Batueva earned third place in taijiquan. Once again, Master of Sports of Russia Anna Leonova became the country's champion in the Wing Chun discipline.
The results demonstrate Buryatia's strong tradition in wushu and the region's continued success in producing competitive athletes across multiple disciplines and age categories at the national championship level.
