Great results for the Asturian team that competed at the Spanish Wushu Championship, held in Arganda del Rey, Madrid. Wushu is a modality that comes from traditional Chinese martial arts, and Asturian athletes won two gold medals and one bronze medal last weekend.

All medals were in light sanda (a combat modality), in which the most outstanding performer was once again Víctor Gutiérrez Blanco from Gijón, who was proclaimed senior Spanish champion for the fourth consecutive year. Marco Fernández Fernández also reached the top, in his case in junior light sanda. Meanwhile, Jesús González Cuervo won the bronze medal, repeating his presence on the national podium.

In addition to the competitors, the team included the participation of Samuel Sánchez Prieto, who attended the championship as a judge-referee representing Asturias, performing excellent work. The most outstanding performance was that of Gijón native Víctor Gutiérrez Blanco, who was proclaimed the best at the national level for the fourth consecutive year, demonstrating exceptional consistency in Spanish wushu competition.
