The 4th Shaanxi Provincial Martial Arts Kung Fu Conference opened on Monday evening at the Huayin Sports Center Gymnasium in Huayin City, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.

The five-day event has attracted more than 1,800 participants representing 135 teams and individual entries. International competitors have also arrived from Russia, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

Martial artists will compete in individual and team events involving traditional boxing styles and weapons. Chinese wushu master Zhao Changjun said the high turnout reflects the conference’s growing influence among martial arts enthusiasts in China and abroad.

The event follows a “one event, two venues, multiple presentations” format, with additional outdoor activities taking place at the “One River, Two Banks” park and Huashan Gubaixing Xianxia Town. A wushu carnival and cultural exhibitions will also introduce visitors to the traditional culture and local customs of the Weinan region.
