Shanghai Strengthens Youth Sanda Training Standards Ahead of City Games
The Shanghai Wushu Institute held a meeting on October 20 to coordinate preparations for the 18th Shanghai Games’ Wushu Sanda competition and strengthen standardized training for young athletes. Representatives from district-level teaching and research groups and participating organizations attended the meeting.
The session covered competition rules, sportsmanship and anti-doping education. The refereeing committee explained the youth Sanda competition regulations, including weight categories, judging standards and athlete eligibility, helping coaches align training methods with official competition requirements.
Organizers emphasized that youth martial arts education must develop both technical ability and personal character. Coaches were urged to prioritize martial arts ethics, integrate values education into daily training, promote fair competition and regularly reinforce anti-doping awareness.
The meeting forms part of Shanghai’s broader effort to improve coaching and preparation standards ahead of the citywide Games, while fostering a disciplined and fair environment for the next generation of Sanda athletes.
