Vietnam's Dương Thúy Vi claimed her first-ever gold medal at the Wushu Taolu World Cup after delivering a standout performance in the women's qiangshu event at the fourth edition of the tournament in Haikou, China. Scoring 9.746 points, she finished ahead of Malaysia's Pang Pui Yee (9.726) and Russia's Aksinia Shchukina (9.723) to secure the title.

The gold medal came one day after Thúy Vi earned bronze in the women's jianshu event, allowing the experienced Vietnamese athlete to conclude the tournament with two medals in her signature disciplines. The victory was particularly significant as it marked her first Taolu World Cup title after previously winning silver medals in 2016 and 2024.

"Competing without pressure helped me perform my routine perfectly," Thúy Vi said. "More importantly, my teammates and I stepped onto the competition carpet wearing the colours of Vietnam. That always gives us extra motivation."

The 33-year-old is one of Vietnam's most accomplished wushu athletes, having won the country's only wushu gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games and multiple SEA Games titles. Her latest success at the Taolu World Cup provides a major confidence boost as Vietnam continues its preparations for the 20th Asian Games, where she is expected to lead the national team's medal campaign.
