The host team from Thanh Hóa delivered an outstanding performance on July 20 at the 2026 National Youth Wushu Championships, winning all three of its sanda semifinal matches to secure places in the finals. The tournament, held at the Thanh Hóa Provincial Sports Arena, features athletes competing across three age groups in both sanda and taolu events.

Phạm Hải Đăng opened the day with a dominant 11-0 victory over Bùi Bảo Phúc of Tuyên Quang in the boys' 48 kg Group C division, advancing comfortably to the final. Nguyễn Việt Thắng followed with an impressive win in the 70 kg Group B category, overcoming Nguyễn Văn Vũ of Bắc Ninh despite briefly requiring medical attention during the match. Nguyễn Thị Lệ completed the clean sweep by defeating Ngô Thị Kim Huệ of Bắc Ninh to send another Thanh Hóa athlete into the championship round.

Before the day's competition, five Thanh Hóa athletes had already secured at least bronze medals after reaching the semifinals, while the team's taolu competitors added one gold and one bronze medal through strong performances in events including nanquan, broadsword, and straight sword routines.

The championships have also featured competitive matches involving leading teams from Hà Nội, Hải Phòng, Quảng Ngãi, Hồ Chí Minh City, and the Army, creating an exciting atmosphere throughout the event. On July 21 and 22, several Thanh Hóa athletes, including Phạm Hải Đăng, Bùi Hà Quyên, Cù Nam Phong, Lường Thị Tường Vy, and Nguyễn Thị Thanh Tâm, will compete in the sanda finals as the host team looks to add more national titles.
