On Saturday, February 28, 2026, the National Wushu Kungfu-Sanda Championship was held at the Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest—a powerful national-level competition with approximately 300 athletes from 20 clubs across the country. The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Romania was present at the opening ceremony.

Athletes from Aquila Giurgiu Club participated in this national-level competition under the direct guidance of Professor Ion Chelu, 9th DAN, achieving four gold medals and the title of National Champions. The Sports Club Aquila Giurgiu demonstrates once again that it is an inexhaustible source of talent in the world of karate, with the effort made by these athletes and their coach, Professor Ion Chelu 9th DAN, along with family support, permanently contributing to building a brilliant future in this sporting activity.

Unfortunately, local community support is zero for a club with national renown that makes the city of Giurgiu known throughout the world. Congratulations to the Aquila Giurgiu Sports Club karate team for the outstanding performances obtained at the Wushu Kungfu-Sanda Nationals. These successes demonstrate that perseverance, passion, and determination can bring remarkable results. With such growing talent, the future of Romanian karate looks promising and full of success—though it is regrettable these athletes representing the Giurgiu community at national and international levels receive so little support.

The hundreds of medals won have established Aquila karateka among the best in the country, as well as at European and world level. They have conquered numerous national and European championship titles, demonstrating that performance depends on work and talent. However, it must be noted once again that the passion of students from the "Aquila" club for karate is subsidized exclusively by parents. The athletes from Aquila Giurgiu Club had very good behavior at this national-level competition, managing to obtain four gold medals and National Champion titles: Cosac Florin (Sanda Light, 10-11 years, 35kg), Cretu Andrei (Sanda Light, 8-9 years, 30kg), Popescu Dana (Sanda Light, 7-8 years, 30kg), and Vintila Matei (Sanda Light, 6-7 years, 30kg).
