Athletes from the Lao Jia Wu Shu club delivered an outstanding performance at the XII Madrid Community Wushu Tournament, held on Saturday, January 31 in Villaviciosa de Odón. Led by coach Iván Marcos, the team from Cuenca returned home with an impressive haul of medals across multiple categories.

In the junior division, Mateo Rolanía claimed gold in Nan Gun and bronze in Empty Hand, while Iván Cantero took gold in Nan Dao and silver in Empty Hand. Saúl García added a silver in Nan Gun and finished fifth in Nan Quan. The cadet category saw equally strong results, with Claudia Pérez winning gold in Chang Quan and silver in Traditional Long Weapon, and Alejandro de la Sotilla earning silver in Chang Quan and bronze in Traditional Long Weapon. Ismael El Aiaida also picked up a silver in Sanda Light.

In the children's category, Marcos de la Sotilla rounded out the club's medal count with a silver in Traditional Empty Hand and a bronze in Traditional Short Weapon.

The club expressed great satisfaction with the results, viewing them as a reward for the consistent hard work of both the athletes and coaching staff. The tournament also served as a valuable competitive warm-up ahead of the Spanish National Wushu Championship, scheduled for March.

The Cuenca-based team now continues preparations for the national event with renewed confidence and optimism following their strong showing in Madrid.
