The dojo at the Léo-Lagrange sports complex in Saint-Marcel, Eure, will host the National Wushu Open on February 7-8, 2026. The Saint-Marcel Karaté (SMK) club will welcome this national competition organized under the FFKDA, bringing together nearly 200 competitors from across France. As the fifth stage of the Golden Wushu Series, the Saint-Marcel Open will play a decisive role in the overall season rankings, with athletes seeking valuable points to advance in the national ranking.

Saturday will be dedicated to Sanda light (Chinese boxing), a dynamic and spectacular discipline emphasizing speed, precision, and technical mastery rather than pure power. Sunday will feature Taolu, the artistic dimension of Wushu, where athletes will perform codified movements combining precision, flexibility, power, aesthetics, and explosiveness across different categories. "Beyond the sporting aspect, this national competition constitutes a true showcase for the commune and for the SNA territory," the organizers explained, noting that hosting competitors, coaches, and families from across France generates positive benefits for local commerce, particularly hotels and restaurants.

The coordination of this major event will be managed by Freddy Paillard, Wushu professor at SMK and head of the Wushu Sports Commission at the French Karate Federation. "A recognized expertise, guarantee of quality, seriousness and respect for national standards," organizers noted. SMK has been developing this dynamic for many years, having previously hosted the French Wushu team for its national training sessions with concrete benefits for the territory.

The public is warmly invited to discover or rediscover Wushu in all its diversity throughout the weekend. "The atmosphere promises to be friendly, family-oriented and passionate, supported by clubs from all over France. The majority of the FFK's regional Leagues will be represented," club leaders said, praising the commitment of the Team Bénévoles SMK volunteers who will be mobilized before, during, and after the event.

The competition takes place at the Léo-Lagrange sports complex (17 rue de la Plaine in Saint-Marcel) with free entry, on-site catering, and free parking nearby. Sanda Light combat begins Saturday, February 7 at 10 a.m., while Taolu performances start Sunday, February 8 at 10 a.m.
