More than 250 athletes from 20 states gathered in Naguanagua, Venezuela, to compete in a national wushu qualifying tournament for the 2026 National Games. Held at the Bicentennial Sports Complex, the event was organized by the Venezuelan Wushu Federation with support from government sports institutions.

The competition featured both sanda (combat) and taolu (forms), with athletes պայքթ competing for spots at the upcoming national event. The tournament atmosphere was described as energetic and highly competitive, reflecting the growing popularity of the sport across the country.

Federation president Humberto Toro emphasized the importance of the qualifier, stating, 

“We are extremely happy to have organized a highly professional qualifying tournament in line with international standards, as these eliminations help create a more serious system and elevate our martial art and Venezuelan sport in general.”

He also highlighted the strong involvement of national and regional institutions, noting that such collaboration has helped position Carabobo as a central hub for sports development in Venezuela.

The event not only served as a pathway to national competition but also demonstrated the continued growth of wushu in the country, with increasing participation and improved organizational standards.
