Singapore's Ng Zhe Nin tops the women's Taijiquan Combined standings after both preliminary routines at Dakar 2026 on 18.653, ahead of Chinese Taipei's Chu Yu En (18.563) and the Philippines' Angel Polo (18.456). The first Olympic wushu medals are decided on Tuesday.

The race for the first Olympic medals in women's taijiquan has taken shape in Dakar. After both preliminary routines at the Dakar Expo Center in Diamniadio, Singapore's Ng Zhe Nin sits on top of the women's Taijiquan Combined standings with a total of 18.653, setting up a tight final on Tuesday, 3 November.

Ng, who already led after the taijishan (fan) routine on Sunday, added 9.353 for her taijiquan performance on Monday. Chinese Taipei's Chu Yu En, who carried her delegation's flag at the opening ceremony, scored 9.330 to stay second on 18.563. The Philippines' Angel Polo, a bronze medallist at this year's World Junior Wushu Championships, posted 9.233 and holds third on 18.456.

A familiar podium order

Philippine outlet Dugout notes that the same three athletes finished in this order at the World Junior Championships in Tianjin, China, last March, so Tuesday's final has the feel of a rematch with Olympic history on the line. Less than two tenths of a point separate first from third, which leaves plenty of room for the order to change.

Polo's coach, Li Jianfang, sounded calm ahead of the decider: "Angel is doing well and we're focusing for tomorrow's final."

Four golds on Tuesday

All four wushu titles at Dakar 2026 will be awarded on 3 November: men's and women's Changquan Combined and men's and women's Taijiquan Combined. Each event has 12 athletes, with the top eight after the preliminary round going through to the final. These will be the first medals ever awarded in wushu at an official Olympic event.

EUWUSHU.TV will follow every final from Dakar.
