More than 30,000 participants and spectators are expected to attend Moscow’s first major Wushu Festival, which will take place on September 12 at Muzeon Arts Park. The event is being organized by the Moscow Department of Sports with the support of the Moscow Wushu Federation and the mayor’s “My Sports District” project.

The festival aims to introduce Wushu to a wider audience and make the martial art more accessible to Muscovites of all ages. Visitors will be able to watch competitions and demonstrations, explore Chinese culture, take part in themed activities and enjoy a concert.

“Muzeon Park will be transformed into a stylized Wushu city, with various themed areas. The main stage will host ceremonial events and performances, while the masterclass tents will give participants the opportunity to learn traditional Chinese arts,” the Moscow Department of Sports said.

The program will also feature performances by Shaolin monks from a leading Wushu school in Dengfeng, home to the legendary Shaolin Monastery.

Masters will demonstrate traditional fist-fighting techniques, weapons work and Qigong routines combining physical strength with concentration and centuries-old Shaolin traditions. Children will also have access to an obstacle course, while a lecture area will host educational talks from experts.

The full-day program will begin with a mass warm-up led by Russian freestyle wrestler Tornike Kvitiani. The festival is intended to become a major celebration of sport, culture and international cooperation, bringing Wushu closer to the general public in Moscow.
