Leading Indonesian Wushu Again, Airlangga Hartarto Focuses on Young Athlete Regeneration
Airlangga Hartarto was re-elected by acclamation to lead the Indonesian Wushu Federation (PB WI) for the 2026-2030 term. The decision was made at the VIII Indonesian Wushu National Conference held in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. In his remarks, Airlangga expressed appreciation for the trust given by 33 Provincial Boards throughout Indonesia.
He emphasized that Indonesian Wushu's success has been the result of collective synergy, with provincial boards serving as the spearhead in producing talented athletes from various regions.
"This mandate is a great responsibility that can only be carried out with joint support. The source of Indonesian athletes is in the Provincial Boards, and the task of the central management is to strengthen that synergy for the advancement of the nation's wushu," Airlangga said.
Under his leadership over the previous two periods, Indonesian Wushu recorded a series of brilliant achievements, from overall SEA Games championships to gold medal hauls at the World University Games. Looking toward his third term, Airlangga is committed to strengthening the development system for youth and junior athletes as a regeneration step.
The main focus of PB WI going forward is to prepare a roadmap toward the 2032 Olympics. This strategic vision reflects Indonesia's ambition to continue building on its strong wushu tradition while ensuring the sport's long-term sustainability through youth development programs.
Airlangga's unanimous re-election demonstrates the confidence provincial boards have in his leadership and vision for Indonesian wushu's future on both regional and international stages.
