Athletes from Jammu and Kashmir delivered an outstanding performance at the Batumi Open International Wushu Tournament in Georgia, winning a total of 16 medals, including 10 gold, five silver, and one bronze, during the competition held from July 30 to August 4.

Representing India after qualifying through the national selection trials in Dehradun, the six athletes competed in the junior and sub-junior taolu events.

Among the standout performances, Aahan Sharma claimed two gold medals in Daoshu and Gunshu, along with a silver in Changquan. Dhruvika Gupta captured gold in Wing Chun and Double Dagger, while Hiranya Mahajan secured gold in Changquan.

Pratibha Devi earned gold in Nandao, adding silver medals in Nanquan and Nangun. Rudra Pratap Singh won gold in Double Dagger, while Swarit Singh Chib collected gold in Nangun and silver medals in Nanquan and Nandao.

The J&K athletes also excelled in the team events. Swarit Singh Chib and Rudra Pratap Singh won gold in the men's Duilian, while Hiranya Mahajan and Dhruvika Gupta captured gold in the women's Duilian event. The contingent added a bronze medal in the group competition to complete its impressive medal haul.

Following the team's return to India, the athletes were welcomed at Jammu Airport by officials from the Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir. Association President Vijay Saraf congratulated the athletes and coach Sher Bhadur on their achievements while calling for the establishment of a dedicated wushu training hall in Jammu and Kashmir to support the sport's continued development. He also acknowledged the support provided by the J&K Sports Council.
