Great Success for Croatian Men's Wushu Team at World Championship in Pushing Hands (Tuishou) Discipline
The Croatian wushu national team, consisting of Fran Juraj Kajs (WUK Dubrava), Vedran and Krešimir Major (WUK Gradec), Vedran Tepavac (WUK Dubrava), Toni Čujić Klenovar and Diego Spada (WUK Hung Gar Pula), participated last weekend at the World Tuishou Championship in Guadalajara, Spain. The Croatian team fully justified its role as favorites, with six competitors participating in four Tuishou disciplines each and collecting a total of 14 medals in the senior category while winning the title of best team.
Fran Juraj Kajs, with three gold medals in Tuishou fixed step, Tuishou moving step, and King of the mountain moving step disciplines, plus one bronze in King of the mountain fixed step in the under-80kg category, was named the best competitor of the World Championship. Alongside him, the team collected additional medals: Vedran Major won silver in King of the mountain fixed step -75kg, Vedran Tepavac earned gold in King of the mountain moving step +85kg, silver in Tuishou moving step +90kg, and silver in Tuishou fixed step +90kg, while Diego Spada took bronze in King of the mountain moving step +85kg and bronze in Tuishou moving step +95kg.
Besides Fran, Toni Čujić Klenovar particularly stood out with two golds in Tuishou moving step and King of the mountain moving step disciplines, plus bronze in Tuishou fixed step up to 70kg. Krešimir Major also excelled with gold in Tuishou moving step and silver in Tuishou fixed step up to 75kg.
With these excellent results, Croatian representatives have announced what they hope will be equally successful results at the upcoming Wushu European Championship to be held in all disciplines in Lyon from May 5-10 this year. The team's dominant performance establishes Croatia as a rising force in competitive Tuishou at the world level.
