Moscow residents are being invited to take part in free wushu training sessions as part of the city's My Sports District initiative. Held under the wider Summer in Moscow program, the classes aim to introduce participants to the martial art while promoting health, fitness, and well-being.

"Regular wushu practice not only helps people master basic techniques, but also improves health, reduces stress, boosts overall vitality, enhances coordination, posture, and mobility, and contributes to the harmonious development of both body and mind," said project wushu coach Alexandra Shapovalova.

The 60-minute sessions are held every Monday and Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 14 locations across eight districts of Moscow, including parks such as Krasnaya Presnya, Muzeon, Hermitage Garden, Kolomenskoye, Friendship Park, and Olympic Village Park.

The program introduces participants to different aspects of wushu, including taolu, which focuses on choreographed routines that develop coordination, flexibility, balance, and precision, and sanda, a full-contact discipline combining strikes, throws, and tactical combat skills. Traditional wushu styles are also highlighted, with both internal systems emphasizing concentration and balance and external styles focusing on strength, speed, technique, and explosive power.
