The state of Chiapas welcomed athletes from across Mexico for the Sixth National Wushu Kung Fu Championship 2026, officially opened by Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar in Tuxtla Gutiérrez. During the ceremony, the governor encouraged competitors to represent their families and delegations with pride and honor.

“We wish you great success so that in this competition you earn honors and win medals. You will be an example for children and the future leaders of our country,”

Ramírez said, emphasizing the role of sports in shaping discipline, patriotism, and personal growth among young athletes.

Officials highlighted Chiapas as an ideal destination for national and international sporting events due to its security, culture, history, and natural attractions. The governor also thanked the Mexican Wushu Kung Fu Federation for selecting the state as host of the championship.

Sports Institute director Bárbara Altuzar Galindo praised the 22 participating delegations, noting that the event was not only about competition but also about sharing culture, values, and dreams that strengthen Mexican sport. She also described athletics as a powerful tool for inclusion and opportunity.

Federation president Abraham Hernández García stated that practicing wushu teaches resilience and respect, helping develop exemplary citizens. The opening ceremony was attended by government officials, coaches, judges, and athletes from around the country.
